Host Centro Escolar University swept Philippine Women’s University to seize the WNCAA Senior B volleyball title at the St. Scholastica gym over the weekend.
But CEU’s Senior B basketball team, Lyceum and St. Scholastica’s College were forced to winner-take-all matches in their respective best-of-three title series.
CEU took the crown after a hard-earned 25-13, 25-23, 28-30, 25-27, 15-10 win over PWU. CEU also won Game 1, 19-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-9.
But in Senior A fight, Rizal Technological U tied its series with 11-time defending champion Lyceum as it posted an 18-25, 25-15, 26-24, 25-19 victory in the tournament being supported by official media partner Inquirer, Lenovo, Manila Bulletin, Solar Sports and Monster Radio RX 93.1.
Lyceum was also taken to a decider in Senior A basketball, with College of St. Benilde holding the four-time defending champion scoreless in the final 2 1/2 minutes en route to a 63-60 triumph.
CSB’s Jennifer Mayol led all scorers with 23 points while Vartolomhea Dela Torre backed her up with 12 markers.
PWU exacted revenge in the Senior B cage finals with a series-tying 49-46 decision.
DLSZ likewise extended its midgets title clash against St. Scholastica with a 19-25, 25-16, 25-23 victory.
