Management firm dumps Patrombon
FORMER world juniors No. 9 Jeson Patrombon has been suspended by his management firm Tennis Academy of the Philippines Foundation for “undisciplined and disrespectful behavior,” his coach Manny Tecson announced Thursday.
The 19-year-old Patrombon, who reached the quarterfinals of the juniors singles in the 2010 Australian Open, was booted out of the TAPF headquarters in Muntinlupa on order of the management firm headed by former Rep. Romeo Jalosjos.
After the Philippines’ loss to Indonesia in Davis Cup held in Jakarta last September, Tecson said Patrombon has been acting on his own. Tecson, a former Cup captain himself, said his ward also started missing practices and even changed the number of his phone to cut off communications with TAPF coaches.
But Tecson, who has guided Patrombon the past five years including the last two years in the pro circuit where he ranked as high as 995th, said they are not closing the door yet on the Iligan City talent. He added that they just wanted to teach Patrombon a lesson.
