St. Benilde trips FEU
COLLEGE of St. Benilde opened its campaign in the 2nd Dickies-FCBL Women’s Cup in grand fashion by hacking out a 74-73 overtime win over defending champion Far Eastern University Saturday at Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City.
The Lady Blazers bombarded the Lady Tamaraws with 11 triples, including four by Ailien Bernadez, although it was Tin Madrid’s lone charity in the dying seconds that helped them beat the back-to-back UAAP champion.
CSB’s Jennifer Imayol buried a surprise three-point shot to tie the game at 73-all with barely three seconds remaining and Madrid turned an interception of an inbounds pass into a split from the stripe to seal the victory in the event presented by Dickies and backed by Smart Telecom, Powerhouse, CW Home Depot, Jumbo Plastic Linoleum and Hapee Toothpaste.
