Cone, Mixers brace for last two games in elims

MANILA, Philippines – It may seem like San Mig Coffee has come away with the last twice-to-beat edge after a close win over Rain or Shine.

But for head coach Tim Cone, whose team only needs to split their remaining two games to lock in the no.2 spot, it’s easier said than done.

“We play Global Port and Meralco [in our last two games],” said Cone. “We just need a split.”

Despite a league-worst 1-11 mark, Cone sees Global Port as a dangerous team when they face off on Friday.

Cone cited that Batang Pier will be playing with ‘no pressure’ since they are already out of contention and that would make a tough team to play.

The multi-titled mentor also spoke about the importance of a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals since a potential match up with either Petron Blaze, Meralco, Barangay Ginebra or Alaska looms depending on how the last few games turn out.
