UST booters nip Bulldogs

UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas spoiled National U’s football comeback as athletics and softball also get going in the UAAP this week.

The Tigers forged a 2-1 triumph over the Bulldogs, who returned to action after a long hiatus in men’s football over the weekend at Erenchun field in Ateneo.

UST midfielder Patrick O’Neal struck on the 62nd minute after John De Arce scored on the seventh as the Tigers joined early leader Far Eastern University, which downed La Salle, 3-0.

Ateneo settled for a scoreless draw against University of the East in the men’s side, but forged a 2-0 triumph over University of the Philippines in women’s action.

Meanwhile, FEU tries to extend its domination in athletics as the the four-day competition fires off tomorrow at Philsports in Pasig.

The Tamaraws shoot for a third straight men’s title, while the Lady Tamaraws gun for a ninth consecutive women’s crown.

In softball, Adamson starts its quest for a third straight title against La Salle at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
