Hernandez okay with drug testing

LAS VEGAS—Irked by insinuations that his athletes, headed by Juan Manuel Marquez, may be taking performance enhancing drugs, strength and conditioning expert Angel Hernandez on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) said he’s willing to submit them to Olympic drug testing throughout the year.

Of course, there’s an accompanying  condition: The other party must be willing to do the same.

Hernandez, formerly Angel “Memo” Heredia,  said  that he  met with federal authorities and representatives of the Wada (World Anti-Doping Agency and the Usada (US Anti-Doping Agency) on Thursday and relayed his proposal.

“Whenever they want, as long as the other party agrees, that’s fine with me,” Hernandez said. “I’ve been cooperating with the Usada for six years.”

Hernandez once served as prosecution witness against athletics coach Trevor Graham, who allegedly supplied his athletes (including former crack sprinter Marion Jones) with performance enhancing drugs.

According to Hernandez, Marquez’s newfound strength and physique were the product of hard work and nothing else.

“We worked a lot on speed and dynamics,” said Hernandez noting that Marquez was unable to do a lot of exercises last year due to time constraints.
