MANILA—Two-time champions Manila and Cebu gun for the championship seats on their first try today against separate foes in the Baseball Philippines Series 8 semifinals at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Field.
The Sharks, the league-leader after eliminations and on the hunt for a third straight title, will take on the Taguig Patriots ay 9 a.m., while the Series 2 and Series 4 titlists the Cebu Dolphins will face fellow two-time champ the Batangas Bulls at 1 p.m.
Both Manila and Cebu carry twice-to-beat incentive in the semifinals which has been rained out the past two weekends.
A win from both of them will arrange a best-of-three title series for the league organized by Community Sports Inc. and sponsored by Gatorade and Rawlings, are backed by Harbour Centre, The Heritage Park, EmperadorDistillers,
Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Victory Liner and Clark Development Corp.
The Bulls clinched the third spot with a 5-5 record while the Patriots made the semis for the first time since Series 4 in 2008 with a 4-6 card.
