Lady Archers repulse Lady Falcons

MANILA, Philippines – Two-time defending champion De La Salle overcame a five-point deficit in the third set to upend Adamson, 26-24, 25-19, 25-18, Saturday in the UAAP Season 75 women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Archers trailed, 7-12, at one point before leaning on reigning MVP Abigail Maraño and Mika Reyes to hack out their first win in two games.

Maraño and Reyes did most of their damage on the defensive end as they teamed up to collect 10 of their team’s 12 blocks.

La Salle, which lost to rival University of Santo Tomas last Sunday, hasn’t started 0-2 since Ramil de Jesus took over the reins in 1998.

Reyes led La Salle with 13 points while Maraño ended up with 12.

Last season’s Rookie of the Year Ara Galang chipped in with 10 points.

Mayette Zapanta paced the Lady Falcons with 11 hits.
