Carlos Anton bested his fellow champion race car drivers as he topped the Champion of Champions race held recently at Batangas Racing Circuit.
All 14 drivers in the Champions of Circuit Showdown, with Anton racing last, vied for the title using the same Ford Focus car.
Anton clocked 4 minutes and 4.754 seconds. Formula 3 driver Philip Alvendia was runnerup in 4:06.611 while Marc Thomann submitted 4:08.676 for third place.
“This was a very fun race for me since we all used the same car, on the same day, around the same track,” the multititled Anton said.
Anton is unbeaten for the past 22 years in Philippine competitions where champion drivers use the same car.
Anton is set to represent the Philippines at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the US early next year for the Nascar Spirit Cup, along with Mike Potenciano, Stefano Marcelo, Tyson Sy, Pia Boren and Gaby de la Merced. Steve Silva, Contributor
