NCAA men’s volleyball: San Beda outlasts Lyceum

MANILA, Philippines—San Beda leaned on Lorenzo Capate to outlast Lyceum, 25-21, 25-20, 17-25, 23-25, 15-9, Tuesday in the NCAA Season 88 men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan city.

Capate unleashed 24 points to lead the Red Lions to a 3-0 start.

San Beda regrouped just in time in the deciding set as Lyceum fluttered.

The Pirates, despite 21 points from Gaius Marquez, reeled to their first loss in three stints.

In the other men’s game, defending champion Perpetual Help clobbered Jose Rizal University, 25-13, 25-12, 25-21.

The Altas, who nailed their third win in as many games, drew 12 points from Adam Daquer.
