HOLLYWOOD—In highlight boxing clips in big-money fights, Manny Pacquiao is usually seen delivering thunderous knockouts punches.
From now on, however, he should get used to seeing himself on the receiving end.
Juan Manuel Marquez’s thundering knockout of the Filipino ring icon is not only a leading candidate for Knockout of the Year, it is also a cinch to be replayed several times in boxing highlights or clips of the sport’s greatest hits.
Ironic, since Marquez’s knockout punch is likely to replace a much-replayed clip of another familiar fall: Pacquiao’s destruction of Ricky Hatton in 2009, when the Pacman’s left sent the Briton down flat on the canvas, chest heaving.
Their six-round battle, which saw both fighters getting knocked down in separate rounds, will be a candidate for Fight of the Year. Roy Luarca
