Ateneo, UST blank foes in UAAP women’s football

MANILA, Philippines—Ateneo rose to the top of the standings after a 2-0 blanking of rival La Salle Wednesday in the 75th UAAP women’s football tournament at the Ateneo campus field.

Aina Martin and Camille Dayrit banged in the goals for the Lady Eagles, who are in the lead with seven points after two wins and a draw (2-1-0).

The Lady Archers, meanwhile, have not tasted a victory after concluding the first round of competition, garnering three points for three draws and a setback (0-3-1).

University of Santo Tomas, meanwhile, turned back University of the Philippines, 3-0, in the second game.

The Tigresses netted two points in the second half to cruise to their first victory.

Joma Clemente and Meka Aguilar accounted for the two goals for UST, which has four points in the standings (1-1-1) so far.

The second loss kept the Lady Maroons at the cellar below the also winless Lady Archers, holding on to just a point (0-1-2).
