SINGAPORE—Singapore booked its place in the final of Southeast Asia’s Suzuki Cup with a 1-0 home win over the Philippines in Wednesday’s semifinal second leg, completing an aggregate win by the same score.
Striker Khairul Amri scored in the 19th minute with a long-range strike. The Philippines pushed hard for an equalizer and created some good opportunities but came up short.
Singapore’s opponent in the final will be either Thailand or Malaysia. Thailand hosts the second leg of their semifinal on Thursday after the first leg ended 1-1.
Singapore has won this tournament—in its ninth edition—three times, while the Philippines equaled its best-ever performance by making the semifinals.
