NUSAJAYA, Johor, Malaysia—Angelo Que and Antonio Lascuña held their own on a final round of explosive scoring and secured fat paychecks by joining a five-way tie for fifth place in the weather-shortened $2 million Iskandar Johor Open here Sunday.
Que closed with a 4-under-par 68 while Lascuña birdied the last hole for a 69 as they finished at 205 along with Thais Thaworn Wiratchant (65) and Chapchai Nirat (70) and Japan’s Masanori Kobayashi (67).
The two Filipinos each won $60,440 (about P2.478 million).
Sergio Garcia of Spain fired a 61 to win by three shots with an 18-under 198 total over American Jonathan Moore, who also had a 61 in this season-ending tournament of the Asian Tour at Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club that was reduced to 54 holes due to inclement weather.
Garcia, who clinched his second victory of the year, had the lowest final round by a winner in Asian Tour history. He birdied seven of the first nine holes to make the turn at 7-under 29, added birdies on 13 and 14 before a long rain delay, then returned to make it four in a row with birdies on 15 and 16.
