LA SALLE Green Hills stayed on top of its game to complete a two-division sweep of the Energen Mini-Youth Ball Metro Invitationals elimination round over the weekend at Blue Eagle Gym.
The Greenies posted a perfect 7-0 record to clinch the top semifinal berth both in the Contender (12-14 age group) and Mini (9-11 age group) divisions.
National University also secured a Contender semifinal slot after wrapping up its elimination run with back-to-back victories for a 5-2 card.
The Bullpups slipped past Notre Dame of Greater Manila, 66-63, on Sunday, just a day after drubbing Ateneo-B, 75-55.
Koby Bryan de Leon unloaded 17 points, including a key layup in the dying seconds to lead the Bullpups against Notre Dame. Miguel Rubia also had 17 points for the Bullpups.
The Greenies, though, easily closed their assignments with a pair of victories over Ateneo-B both in the Contender (80-64) and Mini (37-17) matches.
Games in the tournament backed by TaosPuso Foundation, TriDharma Marketing Corp. and MYBall Inc. resume on Jan. 12 as the league takes a holiday break.
Fighting for the remaining semifinal berths in the Contender division are Lourdes School Mandaluyong (3-1), Ateneo-A (3-3), Ateneo-B (2-4) and Notre Dame (2-4).
Also standing behind the Greenies in the Mini division are Xavier School (6-1), Ateneo-A (4-2), Ateneo-B (3-3), Notre Dame (2-4) and Don Bosco Technical Institute (1-4).
