Leviste shows riding mettle in Paris meet

TONI Leviste marked another career milestone when the veteran equestrienne competed as one of only two Asians in the prestigious Gucci Paris Masters held recently at Parc des Expositions in Villepinte Paris Nord, France.

Leviste jumped two clear rounds on board Century Magic in the Invitational class of the event that gathered some of the world’s best riders from over 20 countries.

“Any time I have the opportunity to carry the Philippine flag on the world stage, I consider it an honor and a privilege,” said Leviste, who bagged two silver medals in the 2011 Southeast Asian Games in Jakarta.

The Paris Masters, dubbed as “the most glamorous indoor jumping show in the world,” showcased a technical course designed by American Olympic gold medalist Conrad Homefeld.

Among the guests in the competition that dangled a prize money of $1 million were Princess Caroline of Monaco, whose daughter Charlotte is an equestrienne, and Oscar winner Marion Cotillard. Jasmine W. Payo
