INQUIRER.net poll: Time for Pacquiao to retire

MANILA, Philippines – After Philippine boxing hero Manny Pacquiao’s stunning defeat from Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez that left him knocked out cold last week in the boxing ring, INQUIRER.net readers believe he should retire from his career.

In a poll that ran from December 10 to 19, 2,117 of 4,728 readers or 44.78 percent responded with “Retire” among the choices from what should Pacquiao do after his defeat from Marquez.

But when Pacquiao returned home from Las Vegas a few days after the fight, he told his supporters he will not hang up his gloves anytime soon.

Meanwhile, 1,387 or 29 percent answered that Pacquiao should continue with his career.

But the remaining 1,224 or 25.89 percent voted that Pacquiao should give up his newfound religion instead and return to his Catholic faith.

Recognized as the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter, Pacquiao used to pray and kneel before a fight, until he became a Christian.
