Tuason Racing School bet Basti Escalante hopes to make his mark in the 2010 ROK Cup International Finals set Oct. 14 to 17 at the South Garda Karting Circuit in Lonato, Italy.
Escalante, a Grade 6 student at De La Salle-Zobel, will race in the Mini-ROK division, where he will compete against top Southeast Asian bets like James William Christopher Wei Pull of Malaysia and Maximilian Fewtrell.
After missing the Macau and Indonesian legs of the circuit, Escalante hopes to put up a quality performance.
“I’ll give it my best,” he said. “This is one of the rare opportunities to fight for our flag. We want to show that Filipinos are equally competitive up against the world’s best.”
Escalante leads the local Mini-ROK title race with a total of 389 points.
“The local series proved how far Basti has improved,” said TRS vice president of operations and coach Mike Tuason, who is accompanying Escalante in Italy.
“We’re confident Basti will make a good impression in the event.”
