Lady Stags try to stay unscathed

San Sebastian-Excelroof sets out to solidify its hold of the lead when it clashes with Perpetual Help Sunday in the Shakey’s V-League Season 7 second conference at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Stags are gunning for their fourth straight victory in the 4 p.m. showdown with the Lady Altas, their rival in the NCAA.

Adamson shoots for a third consecutive win against Far Eastern U at 6 p.m. Winless St. Benilde tangles with Lyceum in the second game at 4 p.m.

The Lady Stags remained invincible in the tournament, easily disposing of title contender Ateneo in straight sets Thursday.

But Perpetual Help have shown flashes of brilliance in its first two games, giving enough reason for San Sebastian coach Roger Gorayeb not to take them lightly.

The Lady Altas stunned the Lady Falcons and dragged the Lady Eagles to five sets before yielding in a little less than two hours.

But they were listless in the straight-set defeat to fellow newcomer National University.

The Lady Falcons have bounced back resoundingly from that loss to Perpetual Help, winning their next two games.

Led by the experienced duo of Michele Laborte and Nerissa Bautista, Adamson rallied from a set down to squeak past Lyceum, 25-20, 22-25, 21-26, 25-16, 15-7, Thursday.

Bautista made her presence felt on the attack with 26 points against Lyceum, while Laborte was an intimidating presence at the net, coming away with crucial blocks in the fifth set.

Like Adamson, FEU is also coming off a convincing win over St. Benilde last Sunday.

The Lady Tamaraws drew big games from Rachelle Anne Daquis and former RP Team standout Michele Carolino, whose showdown with former RP teammate Laborte provides an interesting subplot.
