Two Filipinos will collide in the main attraction of the Champion vs Champion: Asia’s Greatest Battle of Champions on Sept. 3 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Eduard Folayang of Baguio City, former URCC welterweight champion and a wushu practitioner, will pit skills against Danish-Filipino Ole Laursen, a muay thai expert, in the One FC event.
Folayang, a full-blooded Igorot, boasts of a 9-1 record, including five victories by knockouts.
The more-experienced Thailand-based Laursen, a professional kickboxer with a 53-19 record, has an MMA record of five wins, all by knockouts.
Both Folayang and Laursen were present during the press conference held a few days ago in Singapore.
Another Filipino MMA hotshot, former URCC featherweight champion Eric Kelly, will take on Singapore-based American Mitch Chilson in another eagerly awaited clash.
Kelly, who is undefeated in five fights, is a Yaw-Yan practitioner, while Chilson is a muay thai expert.
Folayang said the One FC event has given him huge exposure.
“I know there will be more than 10,000 people at the stadium but I’m not nervous,” he said. “I am excited and I am proud to be representing the Philippines.”
“One Fighting Championship intends to showcase some of the most adrenaline-filled, exciting fights in Asia, featuring the best Asian fighters,” said CEO and event owner Victor Cui.
