MANILA, Philippines—Lyceum of the Philippines pulled off another upset as it defeated title contender Mapua, 76-73, Monday in the 87th NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.
The Pirates, who rolled to a surprising 2-1 record with the win, came back from 13 points down in the third quarter to stun the Cardinals, a final four squad last season.
Rich Guevarra paced Lyceum with 23 points while Allan Santos punched in a double-double performance with 15 points and 13 boards.
Even after drawing another dominant performance from crafty guard Allan Mangahas with 21 points, Mapua remains winless after three outings.
