MANILA, Philippines — Adamson barely got through University of the Philippines, 25-19, 17-25, 26-24, 21-25, 15-13, Saturday morning in the resumption of the 75th UAAP men’s volleyball at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Falcon levelled their record to 3-3 but it wasn’t easy as the Maroons, despite a losing slate, forged a deciding fifth set, pushing Adamson to its limit.
Adamson however, mustered enough strength to elude the upset in a seesaw encounter that lasted an hour and 44 minutes.
Skipper Ron Jay Galang showcased his power in chipping in 25 points — all on kills — to lead Adamson while Amando Maleon added 12 hits.
The Falcons had to survive a tough third set to seize a 2-1 set lead, but couldn’t finish off the pesky UP squad in the ensuing set.
All but two from the Maroons wound up in double digits in a losing cause, which put them down further in the standings at 1-4.
Sam Paquiz led with 18 hits, Jeffrey Lansangan had 16 while Evan Cruz and Dominico Lucindo added 13 and 12, respectively.
