THE NATIONAL Chess Federation of the Philippines will stage its first international tournament this year dubbed as the Philippine Sports Commission Cup International Chess Championship on Jan. 13 to 21 at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The nine-round Swiss system tournament stakes a pot of $30,000 with $6,000 going to the champion, according to NCFP executive director GM Jayson Gonzales.
The tournament will be Fide rated. Draws are not allowed before the completion of Black’s 30th move unless by the repetition of position rule.
