NU grabs second spot in softball, La Salle wins opener in men’s tennis

MANILA, Philippines – Making the most out of its return, National University beat De La Salle, 8-4, to grab solo second place Saturday in the UAAP Season 75 softball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

The Lady Bulldogs, returning to the competitions after a long absence, capped their first round stint with on the right track with a 4-2 record.

Adamson continues to dominate the tournament after completing a sweep of the first round and push its unbeaten streak at 26 dating back to two seasons ago.

In the day’s other completed match, University of the Philippines clobbered Ateneo, 8-1, in only five innings to tie the Lady Archers in the standings with a 3-3 slate.

The game between University of Santo Tomas and University of the East was put to a half due to rain. The Tigresses, who are seeking to tie the Lady Bulldogs in the standings, were up 3-0 before their match got called off.

The Lady Eagles remain the lone winless team at 0-6.

Meanwhile, reigning men’s champion La Salle opened its campaign with a 4-1 win over Ateneo in tennis.

Runner-up NU held a 2-0 lead against UE when play was stopped due to rain.
