Lady Falcons grab Dickies-FCBL lead

Adamson demolished College of St. Benilde, 69-55, to clinch the first twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals of the 2nd Dickies-Filipino-Chinese Basketball League (FCBL) Women’s Cup Sunday at  Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym.

Forward Mary Penaranda scored 10 of her game-high 18 points in the payoff period to help the San Marcelino-based squad beat the Lady Blazers in the battle of frontrunners in the eight-team tournament presented by Dickies.

The win was the fourth straight in as many games for Adamson. Penaranda clinched her third Dickies of the Game award, thus enhancing her bid for the MVP trophy.

University of Santo Tomas and Lyceum  ended three-game losing streaks with big wins over their fancied rivals in the tournament also backed by Smart Telecom, Powerhouse, CW Home Depot, Jumbo Plastic Linoleum and Hapee Toothpaste.

The UST Tigresses outlasted the Centro Escolar University Lady Scorpions, 64-61, while the Lady Pirates downed the Lady Archers, 49-40.
