BP legs cut to 4

TO ENSURE keen competition, the Philippine Sports Commission has decided to prune down its flagship project Batang Pinoy from six legs to four this year.

PSC commissioner Jolly Gomez yesterday said there will only be one leg each for Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao with the top three athletes  in each event moving up to the National Final in Zamboanga in December.

Bulacan will host the Luzon leg, Roxas in Visayas and Tagum in Mindanao.

Gomez added that the decision came after a consultation following the successful staging of the 2012 Batang Pinoy National Finals in Iloilo City.

“We are doing this to help national sports associations discover more talents and replenish their national pool,” said Gomez, who oversees the Batang Pinoy.
