Ceres boots out Global
Bacolod-based side Ceres sustained its giant-killing ways with a 1-0 conquest of reigning UFL league champion Global Saturday night to reach the semifinals of the PFF Smart National Club Championship at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Out to prove that its round of 16 victory over Stallion was no fluke, Ceres nicked in another early goal before holding its ground in the face of relentless pressure from Global to continue its fairytale run in the tournament.
Leeds-born striker Peter Long, given time and space just outside the penalty box, struck the only goal in the 12th minute after a fine pass from surprise starter Jemuel Ariola.

With the win, Ceres earned the right to face the winner of the clash between Kaya and Loyola Meralco being played at presstime.
“We’re proud of what the team has accomplished especially coming from Negros Occidental,” said Leorey Yanson, who manages the side along with brother, Ricky. “A lot of people were saying that we were lucky to get past Stallion and the players responded by proving their worth against Global.”
