Adamson, Informatics triumph in Fr. Martins

MANILA, Philippines — Adamson and Informatics fended off separate foes to boost their quarterfinals bids in the 9th Fr. Martin Cup Collegiate Open basketball tournament at the St. Placid gym in San Beda.

The Falcons waxed hot from the outside and turned back Perpetual Help-B Altas 87-45 to march to their third consecutive victory in group B.
Maui Bernabe led Adamson with 15 points while Harry Petilos and Eric Cabigas nailed 13 points apiece.

The Falcons opened with a 24-15 charge behind combined efforts from Cabigas and Francis Donahue, who poured 18 of their total points in the opening period.

Meanwhile, Cedric Ablaza fired 21 points as the Icons tripped the Mapua Cardinals 81-71 for their second victory.

Perpetual Help-A bounced back from a setback to Letran last week and prevailed over the Lyceum 76-61  in the other match.

League commissioner Robert de la Rosa said the top four finishers in each bracket will qualify for the knockout quarterfinal phase.
