La Salle defeats FEU in UAAP men’s football

MANILA, Philippines — La Salle gained a share of the second spot after a 2-1 triumph over Far Eastern University in the 75th UAAP men’s football tournament at the football field inside Ateneo Campus.

David Diamante struck twice for the Archer Booters in the second half to give them the victory and 18 points, after Jesus Melliza opened the scoring for the Tamaraws.

FEU, though, still holds the advantage in goal differential.

Meanwhile, Ateneo retained  the top spot in the standings despite being held to a scoreless draw by University of Santo Tomas in the other match up.

National University disposed off University of the East, 1-0, but still remained in the bottom two of the standings with seven points.

Anthony Antipolo scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs, who officially eliminated the cellar-dweller Warriors.
