Ateneo goes 6-0 as 2nd-round UAAP baseball kicks off

MANILA, Philippines—Ateneo picked up where it left off in the first round of UAAP Season 75 baseball competition—with a dominating victory.

The Blue Eagles clobbered Adamson, 12-1, on Thursday to extend their winning streak to six and duplicate their best ever start in the competition.

Bocc Bernardo and Leandro Banzon joined forces in Ateneo’s five-run romp in the seventh inning to grab a 9–0 advantage.

The Blue Eagles are shooting for their first-ever title in baseball after missing the mark last year against National University.

The Bulldogs, meanwhile, beat La Salle, 9-4, even as University of the Philippines stunned University of Santo Tomas, 11-6, in the other matches.

NU, which lost to the Blue Eagles at the end of the first round last Sunday, tied with UST in second place at 4-2, while UP leveled with La Salle at 2-4.

The Falcons remain the tournament’s lone winless team with a 0-6 slate.
