Zambales bets shine in Abap tourney
IBA, Zambales—Homegrown bets Lloyd Trinidad and Jess Ganayan showed their potential Wednesday night as they advanced to the finals along with Tayabas, Quezon bets in the PLDT-Abap National Capital Region-Luzon Area tournament at Capitol Park here.
Trinidad, bronze medalist in the 2011 Philippine National Games, proved too classy for Laguna’s Apolinar Penitente in winning by retirement in the third round of the 60kg youth boys’ lightweight division.
Ganayan, also 18 like Trinidad, followed stunned Kabaka Manila’s Jay-R Mingote, 7-2, in the 53kg youth boys’ flyweight class of the event that drew 13 teams from this province.

Signar subdued Olongapo’s Lester Lhan Tualla, 14-6, in the 46kg junior boys’ pinweight; Diaz blasted Tarlac’s Christian Dave Manalo in the first round by RSC (Referee-Stopped-Contest) of their 50kg juniors boys’ flyweight bout; and Agora posted a second round RSC victory over Zambales’ Edwin Quinto Jr. in the 46kg youth boys’ pinweight division.
