MANILA, Philippines—Perpetual Help got a boost to the top spot in eliminating San Beda out of contention, 25-23, 25-18, 25-19, Thursday in the NCAA season 88 women’s volleyball competition at the Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Altas pounced on the error prone Lady Red Spikers, then peppered them with relentless attacks courtesy of Honey Rose Tubino and Norie Jane Diaz.
Tubino registered a game-best 17 points, which includes 14 kills and two blocks, while Diaz added 13 points for the reigning women’s volleyball titlists.
The final four-bound Lady Altas concluded the elimination round with an impressive 8-1 card, ahead of Emilio Aguinaldo College (7-1) which still has a game remaining in its schedule.
The volleybelles fromSan Beda always posed a threat early each set, but floundered towards the end which paved way for Perpetual Help to finish it off quick.
Frances Molina led the Lady Red Spikers with 15 hits, while the Janine Marciano was limited to just 11 points.
San Beda missed the final four anew and bowed out of the tournament with a 5-4 record in the elimination round.
