Region 3 athletes vie for Prisaa Nat’ls slots

CHAMPIONSHIPS in 16 events will be up for grabs as the Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) Region 3 competition fired off yesterday at Columban College in Olongapo City.

Competition will be conducted in baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, football, sepak takraw, volleyball, athletics, badminton, chess, dance sports, karate, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis and taekwondo.

There will also be a cultural competition in vocal solo and a search for Ms Prisaa Region 3.

The champions will represent Region 3 in the National Collegiate Games slated Feb. 10 to 16 in Dagupan City and Lingayen in Pangasinan.

The opening ceremony, graced by national chair Dr. Emmanuel Y. Angeles, was highlighted by an exhibition of the Angeles University Foundation Pep Squad.

Ma. Angelica Arsenal, gold medalist in the Prisaa national swimming competition, led the oath of sportsmanship while another swimming champion, Ciela P. dela Cruz, lit the torch.

Rev. Fr. Daniel O. Presto, Columban College president, also attended the opening of the three-day sportsfest.

Angeles proudly shared that many of the country’s top athletes started their careers in the Prisaa meet.
