Tabuena, 3 other Pinoys make 36-hole cut
HUA HIN, Thailand—The Philippines’ Miguel Tabuena, eyeing another season on the Asian Tour, matched par-72 Thursday to trail Thailand’s Donlaphatchai Niyomchon by 9 strokes in the Asian Tour Qualifying School Final Stage. The 18-year-old Tabuena’s 139 put him in an 18-way tie for 30th place. Charles Hong fired a 67 and also made the cut with 140, in a tie with Michael Bibat (71). Mhark Fernando was the only other Filipino to get under the wire in the 72-hole qualifying after shooting a 69-142. James Lam (72-144), Marvin Dumandan (73-147) and Carl Santos-Ocampo (78-148) failed to advance. Only the top 40 and ties will make the Asian Tour. Asian Tour News
