THE PHILIPPINES battled back to force a 1-all draw against host Chinese-Taipei Sunday in the Long Teng Cup international football tournament at the Kaohsiung National Stadium.
Veteran internationalist Ian Araneta struck the equalizer in the third minute of second half injury time after the Filipinos, who absorbed a 2-4 loss to Hong Kong’s Asian Games-bound squad last Saturday, fell behind four minutes into the second half.
“Coming from behind to get the draw is a good sign,” said team manager Dan Palami. “It just shows that the players are not giving up.”
The RP booters were to play Macau late Tuesday for their final assignment in the four-nation tournament they are using as a tune-up for the Suzuki Cup Asean Football Championship next week in Vientiane, Laos.
