UAAP: Ateneo turns back UE in men’s volleyball
MANILA, Philippines – Four Ateneo players notched double-digit scoring as the Blue Eagles hacked out a hard-fought 27-25, 25-22, 26-28, 25-21 win over University of the East Wednesday morning in the UAAP Season 75 men’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.
Rex Emmanuel Intal led the way with 17 points with 15 hits and two blocks to help Ateneo come away with its third win in 10 games.
Also-ran UE drew big numbers from Angelo Torres, who matched Intal’s 17-point output.
Article continues after this advertisementTorres though, didn’t have enough help as the Red Warriors lacked the firepower to stay in step with the Blue Eagles, who also got 14 points from Ysrael Marasigan.
Duane Teves and Dan Angelo Posadas added 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Torres had six blocks for UE, which suffered its ninth loss in 10 stints.
