Arellano, St. Benilde trash foes in NCAA football

MANILA, Philippines — Arellano and St. Benilde thrashed separate foes on Friday to stay on track in the NCAA Season 88 men’s football at the ASCOM football field in Taguig.

Alvin Obera opened the floodgates for the Chiefs with a goal in the 60th minute, as his squad went on to crush winless Mapua, 7-0.

The final 30 minutes showed the Chiefs at their most awesome form, scoring six more goals courtesy of Obera with three, Jumar Dexisne with two, and Chris Pino with the finishing touch.

The St. Benilde Blazers, on the other hand, dominated Perpetual Help, 6-0, in the morning match to tie Arellano with seven points.

Roberto Orlandez found the back of the net in the 32nd and 42nd minute. The Blazers wrapped up the onslaught with goals from Edienizel Velizano, David Almonte and J. Dela Cruz.
Reigning men’s football titlist San Beda, meanwhile, had to outlast Lyceum, 2-0, to further widen its lead at the top with 12 points.

Stephen Abril gave the Red Booters a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute, then M Caendec steered them out of harm’s way by doubling the lead in the 73rd minute.

The Pirates have seven points but are standing at fifth place with an inferior goal differential, behind Arellano, St. Benilde and Emilio Aguinaldo College.
