Bullang Bullang Bullstag Derby lures 200 bets

THE “2013 Bullang Bullang National 9– Bullstag Derby,” a P12-million super event, kicked off yesterday in five venues, attracting more than 200 entries.

Organized by the National Federation of Gamefowl Breeders (NFGB), Bullang Bullang will run from Feb. 2 to 25 in cockpits nationwide, culminating with the grand finals on Feb. 25 at Roligon Mega Cockpit. Today’s fights will be held at Pangasinan Coliseum.

A barrage of entries is expected on Feb. 6 when powerhouse  groups—Bulacan Gamefowl Breeders Association (BGBA) and Batangas Breeders Club (BBC)—hold their elimination rounds at Kaybiga Cockpit and Malvar Cockpit, respectively.

Other Feb. 6 schedules: Cam Sur Sports Arena, New Tarlac Coliseum, San Pedro Coliseum and Kimikarlai Turingan Cockpit.

Qualifying rounds also unfolds on Feb. 4 at A. Tabora Sports Center, Texas Cockpit Arena, Bacolor Cockpit and Limcua and Juanay Memorial Cockpit.

“Just like in Bakbakan, computerized and  centralized matching will be used.The NFGB adopts a strict screening process to make sure that only legitimate bullstags will be fought,” said Nitoy Nasser, chair of derby operations and VP for Mindanao.
