MANILA, Philippines—San Sebastian barged back into the NCAA season 88 women’s volleyball finals Thursday night, largely through rookie Gretchel Soltones’ efforts.

The Lady Stags outlasted and eliminated Arellano, 25-15, 25-27, 28-26, 25-22, at the Arena in San Juan for the last finals berth, as Soltones continued her dominant ways with 31 big points.

All of the points of the prized rookie came from spikers, making Soltones’ feat — which tied a season-high set in points first by San Beda’s Ces Molina — even more impressive.

Jolina Labiano also had a big game with 20 points off 19 kills and a single block.

Perpetual Help, meanwhile, was made to sweat for a 15-25, 25-17, 25-21, 20-25, 15-9 win over also-ran Emilio Aguinaldo College in its final game in the semifinals.

Sandra Delos Santos drilled in 20 points including three services aces for the reigning titlists while Honey Royse Tubino had 15.

San Sebastian and Perpetual Help begin their best-of-three finals match up on Saturday, 6 p.m., at the same venue.
