MANILA, Philippines – De La Salle brushed off a sub-par start to beat University of the East, 25-23, 25-17, 25-22, 25-17, Saturday in the UAAP Season 75 men’s volleyball tournament.
Red Christensen posted 20 points to help the Green Spikers tie Adamson anew in third place with a 7-5 win-loss record, in a game that marked the first-ever volleyball game held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Christensen also got help from his teammates with DLSU captain Philip Cerveza and Christopher Antonio tallying 18 and 17 points respectively. Antonio scored 16 of his points off attacks with nine digs.
La Salle also got a boost from its defense, turning 14 blocks into points with Cerveza and Christensen doing the most damage with four blocks apiece, matching UE’s total block points.
Skipper Angelone Soria netted 15 points for the lowly Red Warriors, who remained at the cellar with a 1-12 mark. Homer Lauresta added 14 points.
