UST downs Ateneo in UAAP men’s volleyball

MANILA, Philippines – University of Santo Tomas rebounded from a disappointing three-set loss to Adamson with a 25-21, 25-15, 25-20 win over Ateneo Saturday in the UAAP Season 75 men’s volleyball tournament at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Golden Spikers drew 16 points from Mark Alfafara, 12 points from Salvador Depante and 10 points from Romnick Rico.

UST (6-6), which suffered a 22-25. 21-25, 19-25 versus Adamson last Wednesday, nailed a much-needed win to keep its Final Four hopes alive.

The Golden Spikers though, stayed outside the playoff picture, trailing Adamson and De La Salle, who currently claim the last two spots in the semifinals with identical 7-5 records, a full game in the standings.

Ysrael Marasigan paced the also-ran Blue Eagles with 10 markers.
