MANILA, Philippines — Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao blasted the referees on a perceived non-call down the stretch in his squad’s 81-83 loss to Alaska Saturday night.

Guiao was convinced that a foul should’ve been called in the Elastopainters’ final attempt as import Bruno Sundov went for the game winner with under 10 ticks left.

“I feel we deserve a call in the last play. Bruno Sundov drove to the basket, he got hit in the arm atleast twice,” said Guiao, speaking to the media after the game.

“It was an obvious foul. And the referees let it go, and it cost us the game,” Guiao added.

After Sundov’s attempt, Calvin Abueva secured the leather and set up the fast break that paved the way to Cyrus Baguio’s buzzer-beating game clincher.

Guiao urged the PBA to look into his concern and the officiating in general and said his squad was going to write a formal letter to Commisioner Chito Salud.

“I just feel that the league needs to take a serious look at what happened, the referees are deciding the outcome of the game already,” Guiao said.

“I’m sure it’s going to be on the vidoes and the tapes, we’re expecting they do something,” Guiao also added.
