NU clouters claim finals slot
NATIONAL University pulled off a huge comeback to upend University of Santo Tomas, 12-7, yesterday and claim the last championship berth in the UAAP baseball tournament at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
The Bulldogs yielded six runs in the first inning, trailed 2-7 at the top of the third, before shutting out the Tigers in the next seven.
The Bulldogs’ victory set the stage for a rematch of last season’s finals where they downed the Ateneo Blue Eagles to cop their first championship since 1966.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Eagles claimed the first title berth after topping the double-round eliminations with an 8-2 record, while the Bulldogs had to go through the playoffs against the Tigers after both teams wound up tied with 7-3 slates.
Game 1 of the best-of-three series is set Friday, also at the Rizal ballpark.
