MANILA, Philippines — La Salle crushed University of Santo Tomas’ hopes of making the Final Four after an impressive 25-18, 26-24, 25-8 win in the UAAP season 75 men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying VArena in San Juan.
The win by the Green Spikers, who wound up the elimination round with a 9-5 record, completed the semifinals cast while also booting the Golden Spikers out of contention with a 7-7 record.
Adamson earlier secured a spot in the semis, along with no.1 seed National University and defending champion Far Eastern University
John Kevin dela Vega put up 14 points, Philip Cerveza added 13 and Christopher Antonio finished with 12 for La Salle.
After going through the wringer in the first two sets, the Archers put the Golden Tigers — who seemed to have waved the white flag — away with ease in the final set.
Bulk scoring trio of Salvador Depante, Romnick Rico and Mark Gil Alfafara was held to just 18 points combined.
Absence of solid blocking, with only two points off blocks compared to La Salle’s 14, also, keyed in UST’s doom.
