The country’s top drag racers led by defending champion Jonathan Tiu and perennial title rival Martin Manalo head to Batangas this Saturday for the launch of the 2013 Petronas Philippine Drag Racing Championship Southern Series.
Over 145 drivers are expected to see action at Batangas Racing Circuit where titles are will be disputed in the Quick 8, M&H Pro, Yokohama Expert, Sportsman and GT Radial Hotstreet divisions.
Tiu, who took the M&H Super Pro title in Clark Field, will battle Manalo for the premier Quick 8 and M&H Pro crowns.
Tiu holds the BRC quarter-mile record of 9.903 seconds.
Teofilo Edwin Cayco is also eyeing a second straight victory in the Quick class after stunning Tiu in Clark while Arvin Jay Millet seeks a back-to-back victory in the M&H Pro division.
The other favorites are Pepi Santos, John Kalaw, Bong Hilario, and Edison Cayco and Vanni Garcia. Steve Silva, Contributor
