The issue over doping test may be cooling off, but the trash-talking still rages on.
Caribe Promotions, which handles Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux, called Nonito Donaire Jr., (31-1-0 with 20 knockouts), a “cry baby” for raising a howl over their ward’s failure to complete the papers required for the Voluntary Anti Doping Association.
The VADA and United States Anti Doping Agency are set to conduct tests on the two fighters between now and their April 13 super bantamweight title unification bout at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
In its Twitter account, Caribe Promotions said they have already completed the address on which their fighter can be reached for testing, only skipping it during the presser because they didn’t know where they will set up training camp.
It said Rigondeaux will start training camp on Monday (Tuesday in Manila) in Miami where the 32-year-old two-time former Olympic champ (11-0-0 with eight KOs) is currently based.
“We can’t give out the address until the actual day of training camp starts, that will be Monday. So Monday we’ll give the info out,” said the promotional outfit on the social networking site.
Caribe Promotions added: “Yes, he signed and yes, camp starts Monday and yes, he’s gonna kick Nonito a.k.a. Cry Baby’s ass..!”
Donaire chose to keep silent and bared on his Facebook account that all the talks didn’t affect his own training in Las Vegas.
But Donaire’s nutritionist Victor Conte came to his defense, also on Twitter, saying “Rigondeaux’s camp is confused and disoriented.”
Conte, who himself is trying to clean up his image after being jailed for peddling performance-enhancing drugs, added that Rigondeaux “seems afraid to do drug testing.”
