Ginebra honors ‘Living Legend’

AS A tribute to former Ginebra playing-coach Robert Jaworski, dubbed “the Living Legend” of Philippine basketball, Ginebra San Miguel Inc.

(GSMI) recently launched the limited edition Ginebra San Miguel “Jawo” bottle.

The special, shrink-wrapped bottle was introduced during the Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City, Jaworski’s birthplace. He turns 67 on March 8.

Jaworski, born to a Polish-American father and a Filipino mother, later moved to Pandacan, Manila, where he grew up.

Last year, the PBA officially retired Jaworski’s Ginebra jersey No. 7 in a grand ceremony befitting of his status as one of the league’s all-time best.

His never-say-die attitude, a trademark of Ginebra teams that owe much to Jaworski’s tenacity and fighting spirit, has endeared him to generations of Filipino sports fans .
