Air21 forward Reyes tears right knee ACL, MCL

RAIN OR SHINE beanpole Bruno Sundox gets hacked on his way to the hoop by Air21 big man Rob Reyes. AUGUST DELA CRUZ –

MANILA, Philippines — It looked bad the moment Air 21 forward Rob Reyes went down hard on the floor Wednesday night, and then it didn’t get any better for him after.

Reyes said on Twitter that he has torn both the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) on his right knee.

Reyes also suffered an ACL tear on his left on his first year in the PBA.

With less than a minute gone by in the third quarter in the Express’ 97-99 loss to Rain or Shine, Reyes soared high for the rebound but his right knee buckled as he landed.

He was rushed to St. Luke’s Medical Center immediately after, but Reyes already knew what he was looking at.

“Looks like I tore my other ACL,” Reyes tweeted one of his followers as he was waiting on the Emergency Room.

Reyes, though, has kept positive even if he could be out of action for at least six months.

“Pretty bummed, but I can get through this,” Reyes also tweeted. “At the end of the day, I can make it a positive lesson for my son [perseverance].”
