Globe breaks thru, whips Air Force XI
WITH Chieffy Caligdong producing a fine performance against his former team, Green Archers Globe scored its breakthrough victory in the United Football League season with a 4-1 whipping of Air Force Tuesday night at Emperador Stadium in Taguig.
Caligdong, who was discharged from Air Force only last December, orchestrated the attack and even contributed a goal for Archers, who finally moved out of the bottom with their first win in four matches.
Unlike in their first three matches, where they looked disjointed in attack, Archers turned their game up a notch with UAAP top scorer Jess Melliza breaking the ice in the first half and Ronnie Aguisanda and Tating Pasilan also scoring in the second half.

Melliza fired from just outside the box in the 22nd minute and then set up Caligdong for the second goal with his lofted shot headed home by the former Air Force standout.
Gustilo gave Air Force a lifeline with a well-struck shot from 20 yards out, but Aguisanda restored the two-goal cushion with a long-range strike five minutes into the second half.
