Trainer predicts easy Donaire triumph vs Cuban

This could turn out to be an easy fight for Nonito Donaire Jr.

If the 2012 Fighter of the Year follows his game plan, stays patient and keeps his cool, Mexican trainer Robert Garcia said Donaire will have no problem beating Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux in the world super bantamweight unification title fight on April 13 at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

“I just think Nonito’s skills and power will be too much for Guillermo Rigondeaux,” Garcia told thaboxingvoice.com. “Everybody might think I’m wrong, but I think this fight might turn out to be an easy fight for Nonito.

“As long as Nonito keeps his cool, keeps his patience, and follows his game plan, I don’t think he has any problem against Rigondeaux.”

The acclaimed trainer refused to divulge the game plan this early in their training but added that they are not intimidated by Rigondeaux’s legendary amateur record of 400 wins.

Garcia told the same website that the amateur bouts only lasted three rounds each, and it’s going to be different staying for 12 rounds against a top fighter like Donaire.

“In the later rounds, with a puncher like Nonito in front of you, it’s a different story,” added Garcia.

Donaire, the WBO champion, boasts a 31-1-0 record with 20 knockouts while WBA titlist Rigondeaux  is unbeaten in 11 fights with eight KOs.
